Main Performer: Sudo Choir

  • Founded in 2024, Sudo Choir is a dynamic mixed-voice Chinese choir in the San Francisco Bay Area. United by strong musical foundations and a passion for choral singing, members come from diverse professional backgrounds. In its first year, the choir has already performed classical, folk, contemporary, and pop works in multiple languages, presenting concerts and joining Stanford Memorial Church’s Summer Music Series.

  • The choir is led by Freya Zheng, who holds a Master’s in Choral Conducting from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. She has collaborated with choirs in Copenhagen, Beijing, and Nanjing, and currently also directs the Ensemble Continuo Children’s Choir while actively engaging in music education across age groups.

  • Sudo Choir is a proud member of the Chinese Music & Cultural Association (CMCA), a Bay Area nonprofit fostering a vibrant Chinese music community and cross-cultural exchange.

Solo Singer: Peiqi Huang

  • Soprano Peiqi Huang, praised for her “limpid soprano voice,” is active in opera, early music, contemporary works, and recital performances. She has appeared as the soprano soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Sinfonia da Camera at Krannert Center and has also performed with professional ensembles including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and Concerto-Urbano Baroque Ensemble. Her operatic roles include Adele (Die Fledermaus), Musetta (La Bohème), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), among others.

  • She has received second prize at the NATS Central Region Competition, and the UISO Concerto Competition, and earned awards at the Bologna International Vocal Competition and the Hong Kong International Music Festival. As an educator, she served as Lecturer in Voice at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was the voice instructor and choir conductor at the Beijing Dance Academy. She has completed EVT I & II certification and works with students ranging from young professional singers to amateurs.

  • Peiqi holds degrees from the Central Conservatory of Music, the Eastman School of Music, and a DMA in Vocal Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Pianist: Qiu Chen

  • Dr. Qiu Chen is a distinguished pianist and educator with extensive training and performance experience. She holds a Doctorate in Piano from the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, with a minor in Piano Pedagogy. Throughout her career, Dr. Chen has been recognized with multiple awards, including first-place honors at the International Young Artist Piano & Violin Competition and gold medals at the Warsaw International Piano Competition. Her performances have been featured in concert halls across the globe, including Carnegie Hall. As an educator, Dr. Chen's students have achieved remarkable success in national competitions and admissions to top music conservatories.
